I was so excited to finally find some amazing miniature embroidery hoops on Etsy and ordered 10 immediately......
...they are from Sonia at dandelyne who is so delightful to deal with and genuinely enthusiastic about her fantastic product and what her customers are creating with her hoops.

So here is the new range of Cupcake Cutie necklaces...

Mushrooms in blue and...

....Mushrooms in green.

All the designs are teeny tiny cross stitches onto felt and have a 20" necklace chain...

....with a lovely back to finish them off...

You can find all the Mini Embroidery Hoop Necklaces in my felt or Etsy stores.

Stitching on Hama beads

If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I am obsessed with hama beads and cross stitch...I just love designing patterns pixel by pixel and bringing them to life with either bead or thread.

So I have been playing around combining my two favourite things....

I had this brilliant idea to make a square of hama beads and try and stitch on it.
I decided to use my Mr Fox hama bead brooch pattern to start with. I just love the contrast of the threads on the bright background beads. Stick a bit of felt to the back and you have a coaster!

Next I thought about making smaller shapes to stitch on to make into brooches/pins and pendants or just decorations.  Now the trick is not to melt the beads too much otherwise your needle won't fit through the holes!

So four beads will make one cross stitch...you just go up and down through the centre of the beads like you do with the holes in aida cloth.

If you want to try this yourself here is a BIG TIP.........if you create your shape with your square board placed on an angle you can then use the spaces between the fused beads as extra stitch holes and therefore get bigger designs onto a smaller area....did I explain that very well?!

So I got very excited and started making lots of shapes and stitching lots of woodland creatures....

You can see that both the deer and owl have been stitched on 'angled' shapes while if you go back to the top and look at the fox he is stitched on a 'straight' board.

OK so I am never going to be asked to write technical manuals with this kind of explanation but I hope you get the idea. Please feel free to ask questions!

Have a go...it is so much fun!

I am working on a cute Easter one which will be revealed soon.

My New Project + a waste canvas tutorial

My new cross stitch book Sweet Treats and the pretty embroidery floss I have bought for the first project have been sitting in my craft room for about 3 weeks now.

I promised myself I would not start stitching until I have finished all my crafty bits for Craft 2.0.

I here it calling out to me.....'Start me now!!!'

I am great at starting new projects but don't always finish them.

Anyway I am sticking to my promise and will start after Easter. I am going to stitch one of the lovely designs onto an interesting object and will be using waste canvas so thought I would make it into a tutorial too.

I love waste canvas, although it is very hard to find these days.

So stay tuned!

First project for 2011 - Toadstool Babushka Pattern

After all the Christmas orament orders were complete it was nice
to get back to some earlier projects!
I have finally finished this Toadstool Babushka cross stitch/needlepoint pattern...
look closely to see the cute little hedgehogs!
Perfect holiday easy stitching project.
The completed design would be ideal to make into a coin purse -
if only I was clever enough at sewing zips!
You can get your pattern here

Happy Stitching!

Gorgeous wee Russian Dolls

Russian dolls or Babushkas or Matryoshka dolls are my new favourite thing at the moment.
I have designed this sweet wee tapestry and completed it with teeny tiny stitches on Ecru fine weave linen - I am now thinking of investing in a magnifying glass and miners hat complete with light to aid the process!

So cute!!

You too can stitch this delightful design - check out Russian doll #1 pdf pattern (left hand doll) or Russian Doll #2 pattern (right hand doll) in my Etsy store to purchase the pdfs - no need to wait for the post to arrive I can email it to you ASAP so you can start stitching.

You don't even need to go out and buy more threads as this is a great little project to use up all your left over threads (although I do provide a chart if you prefer).

Teeny tiny stitches!

Ideal as a cross stitch or tapestry using any size of canvas of aida. The pattern is easy to use as one square represents one stitch. Choose 14 count aida and you will get a larger doll!

Easier still buy the completed tapestry here and use your creative sewing skill to incorporate the design into a cushion, purse, ipod cover or anything that takes your fancy.

Also coming soon (between renovating a house and looking after a fiesty 6 month old boy!) will be an already framed version + another delightful Russian doll pattern who will be joining her sisters + a gorgeous wee toy soldier design.

Stay tuned!!
